Home Energy Audit
A home energy audit is a package of services designed to help homeowners increase the energy efficiency, comfort, safety, and durability of their home. It views your home as a total "system". The audit begins with screening to gather information about the home. Diagnostic testing is performed to evaluate the home and analysis of the information provided is used to recommend work efforts. A follow-up inspection is performed after repairs to ensure that the work performed was done correctly. High utility costs, indoor air quality, "sweating" windows, and respiratory ailments are just some of the reasons why an audit can be helpful.
Some of the evaluations performed
- Infrared scanning of insulation (thermal barrier)
- Blower door testing (air barrier)
- HVAC duct leakage testing
- Combustion appliance testing (including depressurization for "back-drafting")
